What's up, Next Gen Fam!

To find the work you love, you probably need to go through job interviews. Sometimes, performing well in a job interview could be a launching point in your career!

This week, we're covering tips that'll improve your interview skills.

Let's dive in!

TIPS

1. Research the interviewer.

The more an interviewer likes you, the more likely you are to get the job. So research their background. Check their social media profiles, examine their LinkedIn, and look for similarities. If you can mention a commonality (such as being alums of the same school) during the interview, that's a huge plus!

2. Ask thoughtful questions.

In some interviews, the interviewer may ask: “Do you have any questions for me? In this circumstance, you want to have some quality questions ready! According to the CEO of Acquisition.com, a great question to ask is: â€śWhat problems exist today that you’d like me to solve?” or â€śHow can I exceed your expectations for this role?”

3. Avoid extended responses.

When we get nervous in interviews, it’s easy to ramble. So when you’re asked a question, give concise answers. If you have multiple points to make, consider giving no more than three points. For example, if you’re asked, â€śWhy do you want to work here?”, you could respond with: “I have plenty of reasons, but I’ll focus on three. The first reason is… the second is….and the third is…”

4. Demonstrate that you understand the company.

During your interview, seek out opportunities to show that you’ve done your research. For example, you could ask questions like: “I understand the company has both B2B and B2C revenue lines – which side will this role be more focused on?” This will help you leave a positive impression without being too direct.
