What's up, Next Gen Fam!

Great thinkers are sometimes described as “intellectual athletes.” They care for their mind the way athletes protect their body to stay sharp.

This week, we're covering tips to help you nurture your mind and optimize your thinking.

Let's dive in!

TIPS

#1. Understand your biases.

Our worldview is heavily influenced by our environment and experiences. To become a better thinker, develop an awareness of your biases. For example, look at the content you consume and think about how it shapes your worldview. Or, travel to a foreign land to take in new perspectives. These strategies can uncover blindspots

#2. Organize your physical environment.

According to a study from the Princeton Neuroscience Institute, the organization of your workspace is linked to the clarity of your headspace. That's because the messier your surroundings, the more stimuli there is to distract you. So try to work in a clean, organized environment to focus your thinking.

#3: Reflect.

Ambitious learners tend to consume educational content all day long. But sometimes the best way to learn is to stop consuming and start reflecting. Grab a journal and ask: “What have I learned recently? What can I do with that information?" This type of quiet reflection can help you turn insights into action.

#4. Think slow.

When someone asks a thoughtful question, your reaction might be to respond immediately. However, this first reaction may not be your best answer. Instead, consider thinking in silence for a few seconds before responding. This will tap into your analytical System 2 thinking and usually deliver the best response.

QUESTION FOR YOU

What is something meaningful you've changed your mind about recently?
