What's up, Next Gen Fam!

Winston Churchill once said "you can measure a person's character by the choices they make under pressure." That's why we admire leaders who perform best when it matters most.

This week, we're covering tips to help you think fast and make the right choices when it counts.

Let's dive in!

TIPS

#1: Determine how urgent the issue really is.

When things get busy, we tend to think every new issue is important and needs to be solved immediately. Instead, take time at the outset to determine how urgent the problem really is. For example, if you're planning an event and the headliner cancels days before the show, don’t decide on a new path right away. Give yourself a few hours to let thoughts settle, then think through your options with a clear mind.

#2. Avoid problem-solving in your head.

Stress can cloud your thinking. If you're under-pressure, problem-solving in your head will make your already-cloudy brain work even harder. So during urgent times, grab a journal and lay out all your thoughts. Empty your mind on paper and don't hold back. This will reduce stress and improve your judgement.

#3: Get advice from a relevant source.

When you're in the weeds, it's hard to separate the forest from the trees. This is why outside perspectives are invaluable. But don't just get advice from your friends and family because it's convenient. Instead, reach out to someone that has experience with your exact scenario. For example, if you're the event leader and unsure what to do about the headliner, speak with last year's leader!

#4. Say out loud what's asked of you.

If you've weighed the options but still can't decide, let your intuition guide you. One way to tap into your instincts is to talk through your scenario out loud. For example: The event is a few days away... what should we do about the cancelled headliner? When you ask yourself a question out loud, your intuition might respond with the best answer!
